Suggest Remedy For Pain In The Chest Due To Costochondritis

Hi. I was diagnosed with chostocondritis after an injury to my chest. PT worked to realign my ribs and gain strength back but pain was still present. A pain management doctor gave me a cream to apply with a tens unit. It has been a year and now my doctor is suggesting a steroid shot. I have read some negatives about this but am still considering giving it a try. 43 year old male. What are your thoughts on the injection versus oral anti inflammatory? I am also concerned about the injection going too deep.

Welcome to HCM, I have gone through you query and understood your concerns, the steroids shot have an excellent anti-inflammatory properties and that could be very helpful with your chronic pain, mostly the steroids side effects appear in a long-terms treatment, about the procedure they use an local anesthesia ( probably a topic spray ) before the shot. I hope that my advice has been helpful, take care
