Hi, I am 29 wks pregnant and all is going well with baby. Two days ago I started experiencing extreme, pretty constant pain in my left shoulder under my collar bone. It s hurts worse to take a breath at times. I went to the OB trauma at the hospital where I will deliver as directed by my OB nurse. Baby checked out fine. The immediate concern was a possible blood clot. A CAT scan ruled that out. It was decided that it must be referred pain from the phrenic nerve. That baby is in a position that is irritating the diaphragm. My question is--what can be done about the pain? I was told to take Tylenol---it doesn t touch it. I have alternated hot and cold. When I can finally get to sleep I wake up with even worse pain and there is no going back to sleep. I have never heard of this in pregnancy and can t find anything on the internet. Is there anything that can lessen the pain? Can I expect to have to suffer this until I deliver?
