Suggest Remedy For Pain In Buttocks After A Fall

I fell down the stairs back in December and I hurt my back. Also I bruised my right butt cheek really bad. I experienced light headedness and felt like I was going to pass out. I also was sick to my stomach after the fall. I can barely touch my right butt cheek....it hurts that bad. Also I feel a knot and other lumps around it. I m starting to worry. By the end of the day I can barely walk. What is it ? And what should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The severe inability to walk and day to day work interference indicates possible issue of musculoskeletal trauma involving lower back and spino coccygeal region. There can be:
- Coccygeal fracture
- Sprain or strain involving paraspinal ligaments
- Vertebra compression fracture
- Reduced disc space between L3 and L4 or L4 and L5

It is best recommended for following measures at present till you approach your primary care for examination:
- Local application of heating pad
- Use analgesic spray or ointment containing Diclofenac, Capsaicin, linseed oil
- Anti inflammatory medications containing Tramadol hydrochloride or Etoricoxib

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
