Suggest Remedy For Mid Cycle Menstrual Bleeding With Abdominal Cramps

Hi, I m 21 and have been on birth control since I was about 15, to regulate my periods and to control my cramps. I have had two periods this month. I thought that my second period was my boyfriend breaking my hymen during intercourse (I m sorry for the inappropriateness) but I m still bleeding heavily, after completing my cycle and I m having cramps in my lower spine. Is this a second period or is it something serious? My cramps normally, on a scale from 1-10, are a solid 10 and these cramps now, are an 8. What could be happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As you have unusual bleeding plus cramps pelvic infection or inflammation should be ruled out. A pelvic examination by gynecologist and ultrasound of pelvis should be done to know the exact status. Antibiotics will be required in case of infection and Progesterone might be required if bleeding is more.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
