Hello and welcome to HCM,
Swelling and pain in knee joint after a history of trauma is suggestive of injury to the soft tissues in and around the knee joint.
A X-ray of the knee joint is required to assess the structures around the knee joint.
Swelling can be due to collection of fluid in the joint cavity.
If there is only soft tissue trauma, rest and pain killers will relieve the pain.
Fluid collection will relieve once inflammation subsides.
Consult your orthopaedician for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
