Suggest Remedy For Itchy Rash On Groin, Back And Buttocks

I noticed about a week or so ago that my penile shaft was dry and flakey on the underside. It didn t itch or hurt so I left it alone. However a few days after that I noticed that same area and pubic area had a blotchy rash. Its extremely itchy, but the itch mostly comes and goes. I m pretty sure an STD is out of the question due to I m not sexually active. Also the rash seems to keep spreading I have seen it on my chest, back, and butt. I have been taking benadryl to help with the itch but have avoided applying any lotions or creams to the infected areas.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to fungal infection. Fungal infection like tinea corporis can give such symptoms. Using ointments or lotion of antifungal agents like miconazole or terbinafine will be helpful for this. I also recommend to take fluconazole tab orally weekly once for 1 month to stop recurrence for such cases in my patients.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
