Suggest Remedy For Irritation On Gums After Tooth Extraction

I had a tooth pulled out on Friday (two days ago). On Friday and Saturday I had a big blood clot. This morning I woke up and it was gone. There is a bit of it left in the hole where the tooth was, but most of the clot is gone.
I'm not having any pain. It is just a little sore/irritated around the site. Do I need to worry about this? I've heard of dry socket...Am I at risk for that?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you are having soreness on gums after tooth extraction which is a matter you need not to worry about. Its a normal process of healing as there is formation of blood clot. Blood clot will dislodge from its place in 3-4 days and naked bone will start forming there which is a sign of good healing.

You should not panic about dry socket as in that condition wound healing and formation of clot don't take place and there is too much pain and foul swelling occurs in that case.

I would suggest you to follow the instructions given to you by dentist. Do warm saline rinses twice daily. Eat ice creams , drink cold water. If you experience any pain take antibiotics such as Ibuprofen.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get well Soon.

Best Wishes,
