Suggest Remedy For Heavy Periods

I,ve had problems with my periods for about 18 months. The last one had gone on for 28days so I went to my GP. She gave me synthetic progesterone for 21 days. It worked and 4 days after stopping my period began on Friday evening. It was quite sore but copable with. Yesterday morning I was woken by the most excruciating pain, almost as bad as when I had gallstones. No pain relief helpled so I called NHS 24. Eventually a doctor came out and gave me muscle a prescription for muscle relaxants. I hadn't had a chance to get them when I stood up and felt I passed something. When I checked I found a satsuma sized fatty lump, not a blood clot, on my pad. The pain was gone but I phoned NHS 24 again because I felt faint from the shock. Since I couldn't get to A&E a doctor called me back and said I should put it in the freezer and take it to my GP on Monday and also ask for a scan. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT IT IS LIKELY TO BE AND IF IT'S ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT? AS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT'S BEEN FRIGHTENING BUT I,M NOT IN PAIN AND ALTHOUGH MY PERIOD IS QUITE HEAVY IT,S NOT SCARILY SO. MANY THANKS CAROLINE
