General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of raspy voice for over 15 years, working as bartender.
The best way to get a proper diagnosis as as follows:
Get an appointment of an ENT Surgeon for proper Laryngoscopy to the exact cause.
Once a proper diagnosis is made, further management will be as per the cause found.
If there is paralysis of one vocal cord then corrective surgery is possible now-a-days.
IF there is thickening of the vocal cords then medical management will help you.
But surely you have to give rest to vocal cords for proper outcome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
