Suggest Remedy For Fluid Retention In Knee

post knee surgery - fluid keeps building up in an area directly above my knee; the dr. says its due to bone rubbing on bone and therefore making its own fluid. I thought rubbing bone on bone is a negative in the aspect of bone spurs and decreasing ROM. Now they want to try lubricating injections? Opinions please

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello

This can be synovitis stage of arthritis.

Yes you can take lubricant injection.
Arthroscopy may also help you.

In arthroscopic shaving damaged cartilage is smoothened and loose friable cartilage is removed.
After micro fracture you may need proper exercises protocol and weight bearing as advised by surgeon need to be continued.

Avoiding steps and using western style toilets etc would be helpful.
Loose body formation can be due to disease process chondromatosis or due to inflammation.
Cartilage regeneration may take 3-4 months time.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
