Suggest Remedy For Fluid Retention In Body After Bypass And Open Heart Surgeries
hi, my father is 82 years, he underwent 2 openhearts surgerys, bipass and mitral valve replacement. now he is having problem of fluid retenion in the body, doctor advise to take lasix tablet 1 per day, what else can be done to bring down the swelling, it has gone up his stomach,

The cause of fluid retention in your father's body is heart failure.
Usually it is treated with diuretics such as lazix, torasemide, spironolacton.
He already takes lazix.
He needs also to use less fluids and soda. Decreasing the amount of fluids ans salt from his daily diet will greatly help him to recover soon.
But if during a week you see that you have little or no improvement, you should discuss with your doctor to ad another diuretic or increase the dose of lazix.
