Suggest Remedy For Flatulence After Complete Abdominal Hysterectomy
I had undergone complete abdominal hysterectomy in 2004.I was 39 that time. Since then I m facing the problems of belching, flatulence and backache. Many times problem of gas formation is so intense that I have to take medicines. Is this normal? What should I do?
Flatulence and bloating symptoms are common after hysterectomy especially the abdominal type. Symptoms reduce 4 to 5 days after surgery. Long standing symptoms years after surgery can also occur. Antibiotics used during the post operative period disturbs the normal intestinal flora and cause an imbalance.
Increase probiotic food such as curd in the diet. Probiotic supplements can also be used. Proton pump inhibitors can be taken. Adequate hydration is essential.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
