Suggest Remedy For Excessivee Gas Discomfort

Hi, my younger sister severely suffers from gas. During the bad episodes, when you press the area where the gas is hiding (usually on her back), she will belch and get temporary relief. Today, she complained of foot pain, I was on the phone with her when I heard her belch several times and I asked if she had taken a gas relief medication. She replied that as she pressed the painful foot, the belched! Is it possible to have gas in your feet? Is there a remedy for such excessive gas discomfort?Thank you.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to your younger sister having problem with gases, belching and on pressing and gets temporary relief. Got foot pain today, and got belching on pressing on the foot.
No, there can not be a gas in the foot. This acts on the principles of acupressure hence nothing to worry about gas in the foot.
I would suggest you the following for her since she has two problems:
1) The gases: the causes can be many, the commonest being:
Aerophagia due to stress and/or anxiety.
Intestinal chronic infection with imbalance between the good and the bad bacteria, the overgrowth of the gas producing bacteria can cause gases.
I would advise the following:
Reduce the stress and/or anxiety.
Stop the aerated drinks.
Home-made fresh foods only.
Tests of stool, blood.
If infection is present to give her a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with activated charcoal and PPI like Omeprazole.
This should solve her problems.
2) The pain in the foot:
Have a clinical examination and see if there is tenosynovitis or so.
Orthopedic Surgeons opinion is the best to get an appropriate diagnosis and to get the proper investigations and treatment to get a relief.
