How can I deal with being so down that it s becoming something that I m finding it impossible to make it through the day? I have a personal problem that took place back in the 1950 s. I can t get it out of my head. It s taking it s toll on me. Do I need to see a professional?
I can understand your concern. The symptoms of depression should not be overlooked. You had some personal problem and it caused persistence of the symptoms. If you are having symptoms like hopelessness, helplessness or worthlessness then in my opinion there is need to see a psychiatrist.
As the symptoms are related to some things of past so in my opinion Cognitive Therapy would also help you. The therapy helps to correct abnormal faulty cognitive distortions and help in depression. Visit a psychologist for help.
I went through your details. I am really feeling sorry for what you are feeling. A thing happened in your past, only lives in your thinking. Otherwise, it has no existence. In this case, you are giving that "thing" existence through your thinking. I remind you, you are doing this, after all this years of experience in living in this world.
