Hello,

Emergency contraceptive pills contain excess of hormone and so, can lead to withdrawal bleeding after intake and also can delay the next natural period by a week or two. So, in the current scenario, the first episode of bleeding is mostly due to the withdrawal effects and the second episode is likely to be the natural period. If the bleeding is heavy and prolonged, please see a specialist for proper management. You may need styptics and sometimes hormones to arrest the bleeding.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam
