pumping for a 6 day old due to latch difficulties, noticed both breasts are red above the aerola in a arching pattern but it does not extend to the whole breast, there are 5 clear blisters on my left nipple and there has not been any known injury by baby or pump
Hi. As per your case history you are having eczema on nipple and aereola. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
