Suggest Remedies For Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck

I have a 2 year old grandbaby who was diagnosed with mono. She has swollen glands on both side of back of neck. They are pretty big. The doctor said don t worry, but we are concerned. How long should they be swelling and going down. We are giving her advil and benedryl at night. Is there anything else we should be doing?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned but she should be okay.

It can take a few weeks for lymph nodes to improve, in some cases up to 6 weeks, they would normally resolve on their own after the illness improves.

The use of the advil is fine if she is still having pain or fever and the benadryl would help with her as well if she has any allergy type symptoms but may not make a very significant difference with the nodes

I hope this helps
