Hello,

Let me start with clearing your doubt about sciatica first. In sciatica, there is a pain, tingling, numbness, motor weakness, etc., and there is no swelling.

So please be assured you don't have sciatica.

Coming to the swelling and pain of the foot - as you mentioned you job profile demands more of standing I consider this as the muscle imbalance due to which your venous return is reduced due to which the ankle is swollen and there is a pain as well.

Do you have any signs of discoloration of the skin in the left lower limb? Please have a check once, as it can be the beginning of the varicose veins too.

Until we check I cannot claim its varicose veins. But you can have a background of understanding to consider one.

Coming to a solution until you get the right understanding from a physical examination by the physician.

For now, I will suggest undergoing balance board rehabilitation for the ankle along with hot water fermentation and elevation.

As balance board rehabilitation if designed to focus on correction of imbalance of the muscles in the lower limbs and joint stability, even if its an issue with the dysfunction of the venous return that will be corrected.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years balance board training has helped many with similar complains what you mentioned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
