Suggest Remedies For Severe Throat Pain Caused By Tonsillitis

Hey,
I've got a terrible issue with my throat.
I cannot swallow, eat due to massive pain.
I think the problem is with my tonsils, they're swollen, red and there're whitish spots visible on them.
As far as I've been searching through the internet it's inflammation of the tonsils called Tonsillitis.
And here comes my question about any kinds of meds or any cure for that!
I tried to call my Doctor but due to Christmas time they're closed.
I'm waiting for any recommendations and help.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

As per your query it seems that you are suffering from Pustular Tonsilitis leading to severe throat pain and along with it whitish spots that are pustules. It is most probably due to bacterial throat infection. For confirmation consult an Otorhinolaryngologist or an ENT expert and get evaluated. He can do investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis. You can be advised:

- Antibiotics like Augmentin OR Azithromycin to resolve the infection.

- Anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain.
- Doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving.
- You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat.
- Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.
- Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water.
- Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity.
- Avoid spicy and chilled foods.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
