Suggest Remedies For Severe Pain In My Neck

I woke up this morning to a crack in my neck and i havent been able to get out of bed all day, it is now 11pm at night and i still cant move it. Ive taken codeine and paracetamol which has relieved it a bit but still horrendously painful. Will this just go away on its own?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From the description that you have provided, it seems that you have suffered a muscle sprain . You need to provide rest to the neck- preferably use a cervical collar. Avoid massaging the area. Doing a hot fomentation will be helpful. Avoid all overhead activities and do not use a pillow.
In case the pain is persistent even after taking a mild pain killer, then you might need stronger prescription medicines like muscle relaxants after consulting your orthopedician.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
