Suggest Remedies For Persistent Pain And Inflammation In The Knee

Hi, . I have pain & inflammation in my knee, but I think it comes from a knock I suffered to the side of my foot 3/4 months ago, when around the ankle became inflamed, the inflammation subsided after 3 to 4 weeks but pain to knee has got worse, when I walk on it. Over the last couple of months the pain has steadily got worse, I am taking Naproxen 500mg continually & Gabapentin 300mg sometimes, can you offer advice. Really would appreciate it, Thanks Julian

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gonarthrosis.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Naproxen 500 mg three times a day.

Heating pads can also be helpful.

I also recommend physical therapy and stretching exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
