General & Family Physician 's  Response
dear patient, ostoearthritis of knee involves chronic inflammation due to increased friction between the articulating bones produced due to decreased production of synovial fluid and slowed regeneration of articular cartilage.it will lead to abnormal growth of bone spurs which further aggravate the condition.
you need to consult a physiotherapist who will guide through knee exercises, this will help in strengthening the muscles around the joint and theeby stabilising the joint, its the most effective treatment for osteoarthritis.
i recommend you take supplement containing chondroitin sulfate daily.
hope that answers the question.
