Suggest Remedies For Mouth Ulcers While On Ibuprofen

I had my mucocele removal surgery on saturday and my lips got swollen really bad..today is thursday and its still swollen. I consulted my doctor he prescribed me ibuprofen and adviced me to apply ice..the area where the mucoele was has turned white. The stitches are still there. I had pain only the day i went through the surgery. However i started having a burning pain since yesterday night. It seems like i have developed a mouth ulcer just beside the white stuff covering the mucocele area. I am confused if thats a mouth ulcer or something else. Can you please tell me will my lips get same like before after the stitches come out and also is having white stuff in the surgery area normal?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you are not having pain and fever, the surgical site seems that it is not infected and the healing is in progress.

The ulcer you have developed may occur due to antibiotics and painkillers you are taking. You can start Vitamin B Complex supplements such as B Folcin once a day for a month.

In addition, you can apply local benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the ulcer 3-4 times in a day for faster healing and relief in pain.

The swelling may take about a week to subside. As your doctor suggested, applying ice over it will help in reducing edema and swelling. In addition, keep follow up appointments with the doctor treating you to keep progress of healing in check.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
