Suggest Remedies For Anemia

I have a friend who recently was told she needs B12 injections. She has not been diagnosed with anemia but does present with abdominal bloating. She also is a heavy drinker of alcoholic beverages. Would you recommend she have a further work up and if so what would that include?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. If she is a heavy drinker then better to run liver function test also. If there is increased liver enzymes then ultrasound examination of liver also should be done. Alcoholic gastritis can give bloating also. A short course of h2 blockers like Ranitidine ( zantac ) will be helpful to clear it. You can follow b12 injections and iron supplements. Taking vitamin C is good to enhance iron absorption also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
