Suggest Remedies For Allergy Reactions To BP Medications

I am having issues with taking blood pressure medication. I have been on Triamterene-HCTZ and it has caused my skin to be extremely sensitive to the sun. I have taken both Lysinapril and Irbesatan and had to go to the emergency room for tongue, lip, and eye swelling. Amlodipine causes my hands and ankles to swell. What medication do you think I should try next for these type of reactions? My doctor wants to try Bystolic, but after going to the emergency room twice in the last 4 years for the same thing I am getting concerned. Thanks Audrey

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling is one of the common side effects of Amlodipine. In this case, I suggest switching this medication to alternative medicine. I suggest consulting your doctor about this an alternative medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
