Suggest Pain Revilers For Ear Infection

I'M ALLERGIC TO ACETAMENAPHIN AND HAVE A HORRID EAR INFECTION. I WAS PRESCRIBED VICOPROFIN, BUT THE PAIN RELIEF IS VERY SHORTLIVED. IS THERE ANY OTHER PAIN RELIEVERS I CAN TAKE THAT WOULD LAST LONGER, AND ALLOW ME TO REST WITHOUT THIS HORRENDOUS PAIN?

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you have an ear infection that is leading to severe pain and you are allergic to Acetaminophen and pain relief after taking Vicoprofen that has active ingredients Hydrocodone and Ibuprofen is short lived you need to first of all consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and rule out the cause for infection..

Painkillers can although relieve pain but as soon as the effect will wean off pain will recur..
Therefore you need to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, antibiotic and analgesic eardrops and decongestants..
Higher painkillers like Tramadol can be advised..

As of now you can start taking Tramadol to relieve pain as it can relieve severe pain..
Put otogesic ear drops for localized pain relieving effect..
Avoid exposure to loud sounds.
Avoid picking the ears ..
Avoid excess water exposure like swimming as it can cause further increase in infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
