Hello,

Treatment of mitral valve disease depends upon the severity (medicines or surgery) of your condition.

It depends on how severe your symptoms are, your treating doctor will conduct a physical examination, review your medical history, perform tests(blood workouts, Imaging tests).

He will regularly monitor your heart while prescribing your medications if you are not having symptoms (shortness of breath, fatigue, chest discomfort, etc) then you have the mild mitral disease.

He may suggest you surgery (mitral valve repair/mitral valve replacement) even if you have no symptoms, for better outcomes.

However, it can be treated by regular medications, evaluations & monitoring.

In the meantime, maintain low BMI, quit smoking or addictions if any, take boiled food or food cooked in olive oil, take low protean diet, avoid red meat, maintain cholesterol & triglyceride levels to normal. Do regular exercise.

The risk of surgery includes blood clots that may cause heart attack, stroke, lung problems, etc. Follow your surgeon's advice, there is no homeopathic treatment. Maintaining your heart health may work.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
