Suggest Medicine For Sore Throat And Blisters On The Tongue

I went to a Dr. Monday with a sore throat and fever. He prescribed Tylenol, liquids, rest and gargling with warm salt water and said it was a virus I would have to let run its course. My throat is much better. Fever is lower. Now I have blisters on my tongue that make it difficult to eat. Is there an over the counter product that could help this condition? Thank you for a response.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Blisters on tongue can be due to viral infection only..
However canker sores are also commonly seen when there is throat infection along with inflammation of tongue papillae..
Do not worry as they will resolve gradually as the infection will subside..
For relieving the symptoms, you can start doing warm saline gargles.
You can take Vitamin B complex and lysine supplements daily..
You can gargle with specialised mouthwash like Magic mouthwash.
Apply milk of magnesia over the sores..
Avoid spicy and sour foods.
Drink plenty of water and take bland foods..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
