Hello,

You are suffering from severe hair fall. You are already taking Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar). Do continue to use the medicines, it will take 4-6 months to see the results. Severe hair fall takes place due to genetics. When it is due to genetics, receding hair line or thinning patches on the crown of the head start to occur.

Other conditions that may cause similar symptoms are thyroid problems, alopecia areata, scalp infections, or trichotillomania (a hair-pulling disorder) could lead to thinning hair or bald patches. It can occur due to side effects of certain medications. Be careful of what medicines you take. Stress also causes hair fall. Avoid stress. Take balanced home made nutritious food, take iron rich, high protein diet, take food rich in omega 3 fatty acids.

Do gentle scalp massage with almond oil. It will help to regenerate new hair. Quit smoking, alcohol, drugs or addictions if any. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, you may be recommended by hair transplants and treatment by laser therapy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
