General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Obstructive cough in diabetic patient may be part of developing pneumonia from lower respiratory tract infection. There are many causes of commensal organisms for community acquired pneumonia conditions, common one are strep pneumoniae as well as pseudomonas species.

Following guidelines will help her for better recovery:
- Gargles with salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil
- Control of blood sugar
- Ayurvedic properties of honey, tulsi, turmeric are best to be utilised
- Proper antibiotic prescription such as Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid, Azithromycin or others
- Steroid shots or medications are of paramount importance in recovery

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
