Suggest Medication For Frequent Urination

Doctor I am 67 yr old male just had blood test for PSA my result was 6.1. I often have to urinate during day and night. I have had this problem for 25 years. I ignored it because there was no pain and I did not want to go to a urologist. My dad died from prostate cancer although he lived for 14 years with the disease. Is there a generic medication that can help control frequent urination. Thank you Robert sugrue

Don't try any self medication without doctor examination...

Here your PSA value slightly high and having frequent urination problem

Hence prostate enlargement or any prostate problem seems most likely causing frequent urination

You have positive family history of prostate cancer Hence investigate with per rectal palpation of prostate and Trans rectal USG for that

If prostate enlarged than treated with tamsulosin like drug

According to cause further specific treatment given

Rule out diabetes and UTI also

Take care

Consult urosurgeon for examination and further work up
