Suggest Medication For Cough & Runny Nose In Children
My son has had a cough over the last 3 or so days and a runny nose. Last night he had a fever and bad body aches. He was up through the night complaining (same things). I gave him advil both before bed and again at 1am. He woke up this morning and had no body aches and although his temp is still high for him there has been really no fever all day. His cough has gotten worse and now says his chest really hurts when he coughs. He is a bit chilly so decided to have a shower and I noticed his fingernails were purple. He is breathing fine. He is now out of the shower and they seem to be almost normal now. Should I be overly concerned? He is 12.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of your 12 year old child suffering from bodyache, fever, and now increased coughing with chest pain. The nails would have been purple due to exaggerated Renaud's phenomenon hence was temporary so do not worry. But you have to get this confirmed and clinical evaluation done for both the problems. Chest pain is obviously due to myalgia or can be due to pleurisy, which will be confirmed only by clinical examination. Hence, consult a Doctor, get your son examined and investigated and treated as per the findings.
