Hi, Prempro, is a combination of two hormone medicines- an estrogen and a progestin. The dosage and duration of the treatment will be decided by your doctor depending on your symptoms and your hormone levels. Definitely, if your symptoms become less intense, your doctor will try to wean you off the drug in a gradual tapering pattern. However, if the symptoms recur again, your doctor may start your hormonal therapy again. However, all this treatment should be under guidance of your doctor as a safe guard against the more than needed levels of hormones and also to avoid the unwanted side effects of hormones, particularly of serious side effects of arterial thrombosis leading to coronary insufficiency or heart attacks & even cerebral strokes etc. Take care.
