Suggest Dosage Of Amoxicillin In Powder Form

Hi. My son was prescribed amoxicillin. It came in the powder form which i have never seen. The doctor said to give him 6ml so i tried giving it to him. I only ended up giving him 3 ml of the powder when i realized i was supposed to mix with water. He is about 26 lbs. Is that way too much and will it hurt him?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
The dose of amoxicillin in children is 25 -40 mg per kg body weight, depending upon severity of condition.
The dosage suggested by your doctor is perfectly all right according to his weight.
Add proper amount of water in the bottle and give the medicine as advised.
A correct dosage doesn't do any harm while an underdose would not let him recover.
Thanks
