Suggest Dosage For Zyprexa

Can you go off zyprexa cold turkey? My mother has been on zyprexa for 6 years and dose has been lately only 2.5mg. Her psychiatrist has ceased it but she seems worse with sweating episodes, irritability and being muddled. It seems that dementia is developing but how do I know if its dementia or the medication changes that are causing her worsening symptoms?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Zyprexa is an antipsychotic medication that may be used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 13 years old.
Since she has been on this drug for long, she might be presenting withdrawal symptoms even though her dose was not too high.I will suggest you see the Psychiatrist for her to start it back. When she become normal again, the weaning progress may be progreesive with some sort of dose tapering.
Hope this will help
Best regards
