Suggest Dietry Restrictions For Prediabetes

I just found out the I may be pre-diabetic, so I want to work on getting my weight & cholesterol down. I am female, 185 lbs, 5ft 11inches, age 65 (oy). What should my target weight, caloric intake, and sugar intake be per day? I have used the webmd fitness planner before and loved it. Wish I had stayed on it, but now I m ready! I need to know those totals to enter into the program. I am also starting a walking/elliptical workout of at least 30 per day. Thank you for your input!

Hello, Thanks for the query.
For a person in pre-diabetic state, it essential to adapt a modified lifestyle. Which includes taking restricted dietary intake, exercising regularly for about an hour a day and maintaining near normal weight (Ideal Body Weight 72 kgs/158 lbs).
As regards dietary restrictions it is better to avoid sweets, bakery items, deep fried foods, high fat dairy products packaged processed foods, aerated sweetened drinks (colas), sweet corn syrup containing food products and pastries. Better to refrain from alcohol and smoking. Your total caloric intake has to be based on ideal body weight and extent of daily workout. Thanks.
