Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a common sequelae of inflammatory acne. Because I am not sure of the severity of the problem therefore I cannot give you a time frame they would take to improve. If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to use topical Azaleic acid gel, twice daily. Azaleic acid has skin lightening properties; it is antiacne as well. Since your marriage is on the cards, therefore in addition to the topical treatment, you may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling from a dermatologist. Glycolic peel is particularly useful for PIH. I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for a visual assessment. Your dermatologist would advice accordingly.
