Suggest Cause For Painful Testicles

Sometimes when I bend over and usually always when standing and lifting my left leg, such as to put on underwear etc, I feel a pain in my right testicle. It is a dull pain but still not normal I guess. What could cause this? I have never had any injury in my groin. My dad had prostate cancer and I havent had a prostate examination in over 6 years. Could this be a hernia?
