Suggest An Alternative Medication For Eritel

Hi A couple of months back I had a high blood pressure, my doctor did all kind of testing including angiography. Found cholestrol is around 209 and he gave medicine along with he gave Eritel 20 mg for BP. I have come to US on business trip and am running out of Eritel 20 mg medicine. Is there any recommended equivalent medicine I can purchase here until I travel back to India. Please advice. Am also not sure Why Eritel 20 mg suggested as am not Diabatic. Regards

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
Eritel (Telmisartan) is the medication which is commonly prescribed to treat high BP. Besides, it is also used in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus to prevent kidney complications related to diabetes. So, it can be prescribed to patients with high BP even without diabetes.
Since this is a prescription medication, you have to consult a GP for an alternate brand of Telmisartan like Micardis.
Hope this will solve your problem.
