Suggest Alternative To Benadryl For Stomatitis In The Mouth
Hi my regular doctor has indicated that I have stomatitis is my mouth and prescribed Mikes magic couth wash and to take Benedryl. It has been over a month and I have seen no relief. I read an article that said sucking on black licorice can help?? email: debhpe@ yahoo.com
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of stomatitis in the mouth which could be due to bacterial or fungal infection, canker sore, vitamin B 12 deficiency and herpes simplex virus.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene , do not pick them at all as it can lead to secondary infection. You should do warm saline rinses and also do betadine rinses . They will go away in few days by there own. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food and apply desi ghee on them. You can apply dologel on these sores. If they persist then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically to rule out above conditions . Doctor may prescribe anti viral drugs like acyclovir. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
