Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello dr, I am 30 years old lady . I have hair fall problem frequently. I was prescribed clofoam gel and mintop 2% solution for hair regrowth before two years. It was very effective for me. Now that dr. Went to abroad and clofoam gel is not available in medical so can you please suggest me any another option instead of clofoam gel.?
Clofoam gel contains corticosteroid clobetasol which is used to treat itching, scaling, rashes, inflammation, in conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, etc. Steroid should used on doctor's advise and withdrawal should be gradual in tapering dosage. Minoxidil is a potent vasodilator used in hypertension. The mechanism of action is not known in hair growth.
The hair growth response is seen after only several months of usage until continuation of the drug. There may be hairfall on stopping the drug. Unless there is inflammatory reaction, itching and scaling in the scalp clobetasol is not indicated for hair growth. Continue mintop 2% solution for hair growth. If there is any side effects or change in response, consult your doctor for alternative treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
