Suggest A Solution For Cough Other Than Levofloxacin

Dear doctor, My father aged 68 had emergency PTCA last week and he is discharged now and at home. But he is suffering from severe cough now. We consulted physician and his ESR is 75 and total count is 8800. Doctor advised some cough syrup and levofloxacin 500mg OD. Doctor also canceled tab ramipril and prescribed losartin 25mg. But stil cough persists. Please advise me what I can do.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your father have symptoms of severe cough which is mainly because of severe lower respiratory tract infection and due to poor immunity of body. Need not to worry about it. You should visit Pulmonologist once and get complete examination done. If cough is exaggerating along with other symptoms you should go for chest X-ray, blood and sputum test. Levofloxacin and Tylenol is a safe combination to use. You can start with Acetaminophen which is also effective and. Avoid giving any outside food and cold carbonated beverages. You should give your father proper rest without any discomfort. Give water after every few mins.
