Good Morning, For your condition, a heart healthy diet is recommended including control of blood pressure if high, exercise program as prescribed by doctor ( I suggest 150 minutes of walking at a pace rapid enough to get your heart beating but you can still carry on a conversation) and reducing all your risk factors as low as possible.
A heart healthy diet which would be excellent for you is called the MIND DIET and you should be able to locate it online or purchase the book. It is a simple combination of the Mediterrean Diet and the
DASH diet designed to not only be heart healthy, but healthy for your mind as well. This is the way to go and all the guidelines in the MIND diet are laid out for you and easy to follow.
If you have trouble, I suggest you take a 3 day record of what you eat, medications, supplements to a dietitian and sit down with her and work out a personalized lifestyle plan. If you are in the US, write back and I can tell you how to find an RD if you are interested.
