Suffering From Parkinsons. Taking Low Dose Exelon, Confusion About Everything After Taking Medicine. Recommendations?

My 83 year old wife has Parkinsons' and was recently given LOW DOSE Exelon to try.
After about 21 days now, she is very confused about most everything, has lost significant strength, and has tumbled often as she is somewhat dizzy when walking. Her confusion is the most serious side effect, and I truly don't think we can continue with this Med. Can you suggest anything.
I will contact the Neurologist ASAP and get her advice as well.
Thank you kindly -- I am her FULL TIME CAREGIVER and I'm 82..

Hello!
Thanks for query.

Exelon is used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. It is not useful for treating other symptoms of parkinsons like bradykinesia, tremers or rigidity.
Hence it is not a good medicine for parkinsons.

Exelon has many side effects like-
-stomach pain, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite,
-feeling light-headed, fainting;dizziness
-confusion, agitation, extreme fear; or
-pain or burning when you urinate.

So dizziness that your wife has may be due to this medicine .
There are many safe medicines for parkinsons disease. You can consult with physician till you get appointment of neurologist.

Hope this helps you.
Thank you.
