Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,
Wish you a very happy new year and disease free life
The data which you have provided is suggestive of a neurological condition known as trigeminal neuralgia. 75% of patients generally do respond to tegretal in a dose of 600-1200mg/day. If your mother is on the correct dose of Tegretal and despite that pain is persisting, she will require a neurological evalution by a local neurologist followed later by MRI scan of the Brain to see if the trigeminal nerve is compressed by any problem. Other microsurgical procedures are also done for this procedure. You need not have to worry at all.
Best wishes
