Hi Sashi,

Thanks for your query,

I do understand your concern

Diva- OD, chemically sodium Valproate can cause all the side-effects that you have mentioned. However, I advise you to check your thyroid functions, blood sugar and serum ammonia level. Raised ammonia can also be due to sodium Valproate which can memory related issues. One important thing which I would like to tell you is that the treatment of epilepsy and more specifically the drug selection depends upon the exact type of epilepsy that a patient has. This classification of epilepsy can be done by a detailed clinical history, electroencephalogram of the brain (a test which maps the brain function and can tell you if you have seizures or not), MRI scan of the brain. Once the classification is done, drug selection becomes easy. I suggest you to meet a local Epilepsy Specialist who will guide you and help you select a medication with less/no side effects to deal your problem

Hope this helps
