Suffering From Fibromyalgia And Trigeminal Neuralgia. Prescribed Morphine. Overweight, Pot Smoker. Treatments?

My daughter is 32 yrs old. no children, tubes tied, never married, about 40lbs overweight, light smoker, smokes pot. She has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and has tried a lot of different pain meds. She is currently taking morphine by prescription. Her diet is not particulary good. She recently was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. I am very concerned because the fibromyalgia has had a dibilitating affect on her life and she has applied for disability. The tn on top of this is depressing for her. she lives in Wichita, KS, has no health ins. I would gladly take her any where in the US to a specialist if I have to, but cannot afford to pay for her medical costs as I am retired and have a very limited income. What can you recommend?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
It is unfortunate that your daughter has multiple personal as well as medical problems, and moreover has no insurance to take medical treatment.

For treating fibromyalgia, the best drugs are pregabalin, duloxetine and milnacipran. In addition, physiotherapy and balneotherapy (warm water pool therapy) are also helpful.

For treating trigeminal neurlagia, the initial treatment is with carbamazepine tablets. Those who do not response may be treated with radio-frequency ablation or micro-vascular decompression surgery.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
