Spreading Hard, Painful Area In Calf Along Medial Aspect Of Lower Leg. Diagnosed Possible Bruise Without Discoloration. Ideas?

I've got a painful area on my calf that has been growing bigger. It lies along the medial aspect of my lower leg, not along the bone/shin area. It began as about a quarter in size about a week and a half ago, now it's about the size of my wallet or a deck of regular playing cards. I went to my Dr last week for it and she said that it was most likely a bruise (no discoloration). It is very hard and painful to the touch with some warmth.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, it appears to be an ongoing abscess, may be due to the bite, prick, or an injury, or indipendent of any thing.
I advise you to consult a surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. You may need to have an incision and drainage, for quick recovery. Thank you.
