Slight Dandruff, Scalp Secretes Thick, Clear And Sticky Substance. Is This Normal?

Hi. I have a slight dandruff problems and have recent started using a shampoo for it. It works great, but I use a special comb to get there loosed layer of skin off after treatment - and as I do, especially if pushing too hard- I end up with my scalp secreting a thick, clear, somewhat sticky substance. My question being, one, is this normal ( and if not, is it a problem) and two, If it is normal, what is it? Thank you.
