Should I Lance The Boil In Front Of Ear With A Disinfected Needle?

Hi, I have, what I think is, a boil just in front of my ear. It seems to be getting bigger, darker and more painful. I have been applying a hot flannel a couple of times a day but am wondering if there is something else I should be doing - for instance, trying to lance it with a disinfected needle?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a boil in front of the ear can be infection in the hair follicle leading to swelling pain and infection and lancing it at home can further lead to increase in infection and the condition can become more painful..
I would suggest you to consult a general physician and get evaluated and he can advise you a proper course of antibiotics like Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim combination and along with it he can also advise you to apply a combination of antibiotic and steroid ointment over it..
Do cool compresses over it rather than doing warm ..
Take Ibuprofen for pain relief..
In case if there is pus formation get an Incision and Drainage done by a general surgeon under proper aseptic precautions..
